We set out to develop a drop bar groupset that would redefine cycling.
The VISTAR development project would not have succeeded without the vision and drive to develop a groupset that could redefine road and gravel cycling. As a result of our research, we identified ways to improve upon traditional 2x drivetrains. We sought to eliminate the fragility of front derailleurs and the unreliability of front shifting. Our primary belief was that a better solution could be conceived and that we were the right development team to bring that solution into existence.
Enter Classified
The demands of road cycling are clearly different than those of mountain biking where wide-ratio, 1x12 gearing matches the abrupt and varied changes typical of offroad terrain. We needed a way to maintain small steps between gears to allow riders to maximize efficiency while matching the progressive and dynamic power output characteristic of road, gravel and other types of endurance cycling.
TRP connected with Classified Cycling, an innovative startup company based in Antwerp, Belgium with what we recognized could be the ideal complimentary technology. Their internally geared 2-speed hub was the last ingredient to allow the VISTAR groupset to maintain a full range of gearing suitable for endurance cycling. The final result is a drop bar groupset built around 1x architecture utilizing the latest wireless shifting protocols, class-leading hydraulic disc brakes, advanced composite and alloy materials and an internally geared 2-speed hub to maintain proper gear ratios for endurance cycling.
Connection That Counts
The TRP CMD, or "Command" system, utilizes wireless protocol for seamless communication between components such as shifters, derailleurs, and accessories. This technology eliminates the need for conventional cables and housing, enhancing both the visual clarity and aerodynamic efficiency of the bicycle.
Riders can modify shifting behaviors, adjust derailleur trim, customize component names, and monitor battery status with ease.

Quantum Shift
QuantumShift utilizes the rear derailleur, cassette, and Powershift hub to create 16 unique gears (15 gears for gravel), all controlled with a single hand on the shifter. This technology eliminates concerns about chainline and inappropriate shifting behavior, ensuring a seamless and enjoyable cycling experience.
Riders can now enjoy the ease of a 1x drivetrain with the performance benefits of a 2x system, making every ride smoother and more efficient.
QuantumShift utilizes two shift paths to provide the ideal gear ratio changes for the best efficiency and power. It also optimizes when both the hub and derailleur shift together, for faster, precise shifting.
The blue arrows indicate the gear ratio path when shifting to a higher ratio (harder gear) with appropriate gear steps to quickly gain speed. The green arrows indicate the gear ratio path when shifting to a lower ratio (easier gear) with closer gear steps for more efficient downshifting and incremental changes for climbing. At any point, the rider can manually override the shifting when needed.
