Lake Placid World Cup Finals: A Season to Remember

The final World Cup weekend of 2026 delivered one more round of big results for TRP riders in Lake Placid, New York.

Martina Berta made it three World Cup wins in a row, Naël Rouffiac won in the rainbow jersey, TRP riders finished the year on the XCC and XCO overall podiums, and Asa Vermette capped his rookie Elite season as the Downhill World Cup Overall Champion.

One hell of a way to close out 2026.

Three in a Row for Martina Berta

Apparently two wins in Utah weren't enough.

Martina Berta of Origine Racing Division arrived in Lake Placid fresh off a perfect weekend at Soldier Hollow, where she won both the Elite Women's XCC and XCO World Cups.

Then she did it again.

Martina took the Elite Women's XCC victory in Lake Placid, making it three consecutive World Cup wins across two disciplines:

Soldier Hollow XCC → Soldier Hollow XCO → Lake Placid XCC.

The victory capped an incredible late-season charge and secured Martina 3rd overall in the 2026 Elite Women's XCC World Cup standings.

Martina returned for Sunday's XCO finale and battled all the way to the line, taking 2nd place in a sprint finish and securing 3rd overall in the Elite Women's XCO World Cup standings.

Three straight World Cup wins. A second-place finish in the finale. And 3rd overall in both XCC and XCO.

One hell of a way to finish the season.

Naël Rouffiac Wins in the Rainbow Jersey

There was more winning for Origine Racing Division in the U23 field.

After becoming U23 XCO World Champion earlier this season, Naël Rouffiac arrived in Lake Placid wearing the rainbow jersey—and put it straight back on the top step.

Naël battled through a tight U23 Men's XCO race before taking the victory by just one second.

Rainbow jersey. World Cup win.

A pretty good combination.

A Huge Season for TRP Cross-Country

Lake Placid put the finishing touches on an incredible year across TRP's cross-country programs, with riders from Origine Racing Division and KMC consistently fighting at the front in XCC and XCO.

Martina's late-season run carried her onto the overall podium, finishing 3rd in the Elite Women's XCC World Cup standings.

On the men's side, Mathis Azzaro put together another standout season that included multiple XCC World Cup victories and a 3rd-place finish in the Elite Men's XCC overall.

And with Naël adding a World Championship title and another World Cup victory in Lake Placid, there was plenty to celebrate across the U23 ranks as well.

Frameworks Racing / TRP put two Elite riders inside the top 10, with Asa Vermette finishing 8th in Elite Men and Anna Newkirk taking 9th in Elite Women. Asa Vermette is the World Cup Overall Champion

And then there was the overall.

Asa arrived in Lake Placid wearing the leader's jersey with the Elite Men's championship still on the line. After fighting his way through Q2, Asa put down a fast run in Sunday's final and crossed the line ahead of his closest championship rival, Jordan Williams.

Then Jordan dropped.

Williams edged Asa's time, putting the pressure right back on. Five riders needed to finish between Williams and Asa for the overall title to change hands. One by one, the remaining riders came down the mountain. The times kept getting faster. But when the final rider crossed the line, only Benoît Coulanges had managed to split Williams and Asa.

Asa finished 8th on the day, but it was enough.

Asa Vermette was the 2026 Elite Men's Downhill World Cup Overall Champion.

In his first season racing Elite, Asa became the first American man since his Frameworks Racing / TRP teammate Aaron Gwin to take home the Elite Men's overall.

And he got to seal it on home soil in Lake Placid, New York.

Asa's title capped a huge first season for Frameworks Racing / TRP with TRP as title sponsor.

From Origine Racing Division and KMC in cross-country to Frameworks Racing / TRP, DragonSpeed and ZFR Racing Team in downhill, TRP riders spent a whole lot of 2026 fighting at the front.

Lake Placid gave us one final weekend to celebrate it.

That's a wrap on the 2026 World Cup season.
